Devlog #7 War of Dots: Last Stand Version 0.0.7 — The Edge of Precision and Firepower
Greetings, Dot Commanders!
Development continues at a steady pace, and with version 0.0.7 we’re introducing one of the most important updates to date. This patch focuses on performance, tactical depth, and visual clarity — all while expanding your strategic possibilities on the battlefield. Let’s break down what’s new.
What's New in This Update?
Performance & Optimization
-
Script Optimization: Core unit logic has been reworked to reduce unnecessary calculations. This results in noticeably better performance during large-scale engagements.
-
Smarter Graphic Updates: Textures and visuals are now updated only when needed — for example, after HP changes — which significantly improves overall efficiency.
New Enemy Units
-
Snipers: These high-precision units bring a new threat to the battlefield. Their long range and deadly accuracy will challenge your formation management and target prioritization.
-
Artillery: Enemy forces have begun deploying artillery — slow but powerful units that deal splash damage and disrupt tight formations.
New Ally Unit
-
Artillery (Allied): You now have access to your own artillery unit. Use it to counter enemy clusters or reinforce defensive positions. Its long range and area-of-effect damage provide strong tactical value when positioned correctly.
Visual Improvements
-
Border Graphics Overhaul: All selection and outline borders have been redrawn for improved visibility and a more consistent visual style.
-
Unit Texture Updates: Unit appearances now dynamically reflect their current health state. Wounded units appear visibly damaged, allowing for better real-time tactical assessment.
-
Improved Sprite Management: The system handling unit visuals has been rewritten for greater stability and better responsiveness during combat transitions.
Combat System Enhancements
-
Updated Enemy Musketeer Behavior: Enemy musketeers now make better decisions in combat, including smarter targeting and more efficient movement. Expect greater resistance when facing them in open fields.
-
General Mechanic Updates: Several core mechanics — including movement, detection, and healing logic — have been updated and tuned for more predictable and engaging behavior in combat.
What's Next?
Looking ahead, we’re planning to introduce:
-
Customizable Game Settings: Adjust various gameplay options to suit your preferred style of play.
-
Additional Ally Units: Reinforcements are on the way, including specialized classes for different roles.
-
New Enemy Types: The enemy is evolving — new units and tactical behaviors will challenge your adaptability.
-
Expanded Enemy Army: Expect to see more unit types (currently exclusive to allies) appear within enemy compositions.
